CF&A is a prepress book packager, also known as a book producer, project manager, project editor, or sometimes production editor. We transform a rough manuscript into a beautifully crafted, saleable product, ready for publication.

Our job is analogous to that of a movie producer: many professionals contribute to what results in the “big day”: the premiere, the publication date. If we are the producers, the movie stars are our clients: associations, organizations, institutions, and foundations that need to communicate with members or the public through printed publications. CF&A often fulfills the job of a traditional Publications Department.

CF&A will take a manuscript (in rough or complete form), and assemble a professional team to complete all the steps needed for publication including: interior and exterior design, charts and illustrations, permissions, legal referrals, and all the little items that usually surprise authors such as the index, Library of Congress number, endorsements, and labeling. We see your manuscript through all the way to the bookstore and sometimes beyond.

Our client list includes associations, university presses, and individuals, who publish on topics as diverse as sports history, defense and law enforcement, hospitals and medical specialties, architecture and engineering. Our firm represents clients in the United States, Sweden, Ireland, Brazil, China, Nigeria, and beyond.

Principal Christine Frank has been an editor her entire life. Prior to CF&A, she established Editing & Indexing in Virginia in 1997 after serving as a house editor in the non-profit, retail, and architecture and engineering industries. Her teamof professionals include designers, IP attorneys, printers, illustrators, cartographers, and many more.
